Key Players

Today’s card features a bunch of fun new products from the new release:

The Play

I started by stamping our adorable Winter Woodland friends onto white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink to get myself ready for some Copic coloring. After coloring the images, I die cut them with the coordinating dies.

I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth paper to 5.5 and 4.25 inches then blended Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Evergreen Bough for my background. As I let that dry a little, I cut out the “Merry Christmas” word die out of glittery cardstock. Here’s a tip for glittery cardstock: In my experience, the glitter paper is always thicker than regular cardstock. I always use a shim to cut anything out of glittery paper. This die is gorgeous and very thin and intricate, so I definitely recommend a shim to get those beautiful, clean cuts.

I glued the Merry Christmas sentiment and a few of the branches from the stamp set to the background. I popped up the critters with foam tape and arranged my scene where the foxes and bunny are under the sentiment while the two birds are perked on the Merry Christmas sentiment.

I finished the card by adhering the Sparkling Clear Snowflake Sequins (which I am in love with) and a few of the 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins. Confession: I misplaced the dot in my ‘I’ in Christmas so I decided to use one of these little sequins in hit’s place! No harm, no foul, haha.

I mounted the scene to an A2 card base (5.5 x 4.25 inches) I made with 110 lb. white card stock. I went back with a white gel pen just to add a little detailing and my card is finished!

Thank you so much for stopping by. Please leave a comment to enter to win a $25 gift card and continue hopping along. Next on the blog hop is the very talented Lisa Elton.

Happy Halloween | Pretty Pink Posh

By on October 31, 2017

pretty pink posh trick or treat friends handmade cardHappy Halloween, crafty friends! I just wanted to share this quick card I made with Pretty Pink Posh Trick or Treat Friends.

I stamped the little witch girl, her hat and a brush then colored the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

Colors I Used:

  • hair – mid brown
  • skin – flesh
  • cheeks – pale pink
  • dress – lilac & mid gray
  • hat – lilac, mid gray and yellow for the buckle
  • broom – dark oatmeal

I then used the Decorative Tag 1 and die cut the scallop frame with glittery black paper and the other frame with white cardstock that I blended with Distress Ink Seedless Preserves. I sprinkled water to the ink blended piece to add texture and interest.

I adhere the frame to the tag then foam mounted the little witch and her accessories onto the tag. I then adhered the entire tag to some heavyweight black cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the Trick or Treat Friends stamp set with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I finished off the card with Metallic Silver Confetti Mix.

Thanks for stopping by and for those of you trick or treating, have fun and be safe!

Masking Mania | Pretty Pink Posh Reindeer Friends

By on October 20, 2017

Pretty Pink Posh - Reindeer Friends

Hello beautiful friends! Hope everybody is having an amazing Friday!

Today’s card features the adorable Reindeer Friends from Pretty Pink Posh. Plus – it’s my first time masking this much. I had a vision in my head when I designed this card and execution was a lot more difficult than I thought! But! The good news is, I learned a lot and the next time I do this kind of masking, I think I will have a better handle on it.

I first stamped the presents using Versafine Vintage Sepia ink onto watercolor paper since I will be using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for coloring. I then cut out 2 masks on Post-it paper (that eventually turned into 5) to stamp the fun mountain of presents! I then stamped the little reindeer that is holding a present on top. The sentiment was also stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia and I was done with my stamping and ready to color.

I kept coloring very simple by alternating a few colors:

  • Reindeer – oatmeal, dark oatmeal and pale rose for the cheeks
  • Presents – pale rose, turquoise green, mid green, mustard

I trimmed down the watercolored piece and mounted it on glittery gold cardstock. I then foam-mounted the entire thing onto an aqua cardstock (in retrospect, I would trim down the watercolor piece more so more of the background color is showing – but after coloring so much, I didn’t have the heart to do it! But I think it would look a lot more balanced if I did.) then mounted the the entire thing on a top folding A2 base. I decided my masking wasn’t great and there were too many holes. Originally, I wanted this to be a one layer card but it didn’t happen because I was so unhappy w/ the “holes”. I stamped additional presents and colored them and mounted them on top of the holes where I didn’t have any presents. I finished the card with some Mermaid Mix sequins because I wanted those blues and gold sequins on the card. The smaller droplets are from the Mermaid mix but I also added the one 6mm Droplet for some added dimension and interest.

I hope you enjoying this little tutorial and my card. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy October from Happy Turkey

By on October 1, 2017

Pretty Pink Posh Happy Turkey Handmade Card I can’t believe it’s October already! The year just flew by! It’s starting to feel more like fall in California as the heat settle down. I am kicking off my fall mood with a cute, little card featuring Pretty Pink Posh Happy Turkey stamp set.

I stamped everything in Copic-friendly Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored my adorable images in fall colors and added details with a white gen pen. I used the coordinating dies to cut out all my images and started building out the card.

Pretty Pink Posh Happy Turkey Handmade Card

I used some pattern paper as a dark background to add to the fall feeling of the card. I whipped out the Cuttlebug again and diecut some Scallop Circles from Bristol smooth paper since I decided to do some ink blending. Instead of the usual Distress Inks, I decided to stretch some of my dye inks to do the background blending. I wanted something really soft and my Distress Inks has more pigment when it blends than my dye inks. I went with a soft blue for the sky and a sand color for a ground.

Pretty Pink Posh Happy Turkey Handmade Card

I adhere the scallop circle with the background to the pattern paper. I then used foam tape to adhere the turkey and leave images to the card. I finish the card with PPP Metallic Gold Confetti mix. I am a huge fan of the “no holes” in these confetti mix and was so excited to see PPP now carries more colors! Oh, the possibilities! I decided to add some Wink of Stella to my turkey so she shines more, but I am still struggling of photographing the beauty that is Wink of Stella. For now, trust me, it’s there and she’s glorious.

That’s it – that’s my card. I hope you like it and as always, thank you for stopping by!

Lawnfawnatics Challenge #12 – Create a Scene

By on September 16, 2017

Hello everybody! The creative juices have been flowing lately and I needed to take advantage of it. When I received the Stamptember collaboration between Simon Says Stamp and Pretty Pink Posh, I saw wallpaper. So when I looked up the current Lawnfawnatics challenge and saw it was “create a scene” it was a pretty opportunity to combine some of my stamps together, which I haven’t been doing much lately.

I stamped the fireplace on first and made a mask on top and began working on my background. I ink blended the bottom and top in two different colors of ink and left a white band as base molding for the wall. I stamped the damask greetings stamps in the same ink color on top to make a wallpaper pattern. I was able to do this without my Misti since it was smaller stamps and I just wanted a wash of color to give it a vintage feel.

I then colored all the other images from Lawn Fawn Christmas Dreams with Copic markers and mounted them into the scene.

I hope you liked today’s card. Thanks for stopping by!

Handmade Halloween card with Pretty Pink Posh Trick or Treat Friends

First Halloween Card

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays so when I saw Trick or Treat Friends stamp set, I knew I had to make something with it. They are so cute! Because I started card making this year, this will be the first Halloween card I make and I’m so excited to share it with you guys.

Let’s Get The Party Started

I stamped all my images with Copic-friendly Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 110 lb. white cardstock paper. These little guys were so fun to color. I decided to snazz up my Dracula with a vest. It was so easy. After I stamped the collar that comes with the stamp set, I just drew in two lines for the arms of the vest and a line straight down the middle and buttons on either side. I added a little fang to finish him off. I die, he’s adorable!

Handmade Halloween card with Pretty Pink Posh Trick or Treat Friends

After I finished coloring all my images, I used the Trick or Treat Friends coordinating dies to cut them out. I usually like to fussy cut my images but I had the dies this time, so of course I used them. Something about coordinating dies is so satisfying…kind of like those slime videos you see on Instagram. It’s just so clean and perfect…I confessed I stared at them for a while before moving on.

I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth paper to 5 ½ by 4 ¼ to fit an A2 card base. Bristol Smooth is my favorite paper to blend on. A lot of people have asked me about how my blends are so smooth and that’s the secret right there. This paper does all the work for me. I get beautiful results every time!

Handmade Halloween card with Pretty Pink Posh Trick or Treat Friends

I blended Distress Ink in Seedless Preserves and darken the edges with Dusty Concord on top. I sprayed some water to remove droplets of the ink and splattered paint on top for an interesting sky-like background. After this dried, I used my powder tool all over it and stamped my “Happy Halloween” sentiment in Versamark ink and white embossing powder.

To ground the images, I used the new Stacked Edges 1 Dies and cut the scallop edge on some Bristol Smooth paper. I blended Distress Ink Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn on it and adhered it to the bottom of the card. I then arranged my little Trick or Trick Friends onto the card and I’m almost done! The sky was looking a little bare, so I stretched the tiny star stamps that came with the Thoughtful Greetings stamp set by inking them up with some Versamark ink and embossing them with white embossing powder.

In my book, no Pretty Pink Posh card is completely finished without their amazing sequins on it. I adhered Iridescent Stars confetti and 3mm Sparkling Clear sequins to my card. Pictures never do the 3mm Sparkling Clear any justice! In person, they look like little diamonds on your card. It’s one of my favorites.

Thank you for stopping by today. Don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!

Next on the blog hop is the super talented Lisa Elton!

St. Patrick’s Day card using Lawn Fawn My Lucky Charm

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up and I felt a little festive this year. I got this set for the cat for Chinese New Year cards, but decided to use it for it’s original intent. I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. I wished all the Wink of Stella showed up better on camera. This card is all kinds of sparkly!
