Hi there! Check out how I made this summer card on the LDRS Creative blog today!
Hello, crafty friends! I made today’s card for Mama Elephant’s first ever guest designer calls for their 6th anniversary Stampede in September. This is so exciting and since they are one of my favorite stamp companies, I just had to play along!
Today’s card features Mama Elephant Carried Away stamp set. I love the giant balloon in this set! I stamped all my images with Memento ink onto white card stock. I colored them with Copic markers then fussy cut them because I do not have coordinating dies for this set. If you hate to fussy cut, you’re in luck! Coordinating dies are available and I linked them below.
It was time to work on my background. So I splurged and used a Michael’s coupon and bought two colors of Distress Oxide inks. This will be my first time using them. I took a trusty ol’ Mini Ink Blender and blended the two colors onto Bristol paper. I heard you can use regular paper with this but today I didn’t have time to test this. Bristol it is! After that, I splashed with water then added splatters in the same Distress Oxide for interest.
While the background is drying, I die cut the cloud from the Mama Elephant Landscape Creative Cuts into white card stock. I blended more Distress Oxide at the edge of my cloud to make it stand out more. I left this aside to work on the sentiment.
I prepped my blended background with an anti-static tool and stamped the sentiment onto it with Versamark and covered it all with white embossing powder. I took my heat gun to the sentiment until it was melted and smooth.
Time for my favorite part – card assembly! I popped the cloud onto the background with foam tape. I then did the same with the two giant balloons. I added the kids onto the cloud with a tape runner. I did the same with the little bear. I then took a pen and drew in my string for my balloon since I didn’t have coordinating dies, I improvised! Lastly, I covered both balloons with Wink of Stella and my card is complete.
Hello, crafty friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful summer day today! It’s August and 90 degrees in California! Maybe it’s the heat that compelled me to make a Christmas card in the summer, but that’s what I did and I love it! Let’s begin the process on this cute card I made featuring Pretty Pink Posh stamps and dies.
First, I stamped Winter Wonderland critters onto white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored everything with Copic colors and die cut with coordinating dies.
Next, I die cut the Merry Christmas script die 3 times on white card stock. I stacked them and glued them together for dimension. If you’ve read a few of my other posts, you will know that I love me some dimensions…especially when it comes to word dies.
Then, I ink blended a wintery background with Distress Ink in Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass. After that, I sprayed some water and lifted some of the ink so I have those cool spots that Distress Ink makes when it reacts with water. Then, I flicked on some Gansai metallic white ink (because it was already on my desk. If I was to do this again, I would have chosen an opaque white paint) to look like a flurry.
After my background dried, I put the card together! I glued the sentiment die with Ranger media matte to the top of the card. The critters were arranged on the bottom. I left the bottom of my background white to look like snow and popped up all my critters with foam tape for…yup, dimension.
The card was finished off with some sparkling clear snowflakes and I am feeling 10 degrees cooler now! I hope you like my card and thank you so much for stopping by!
