Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 9 – Color Inspiration Board

By on July 20, 2017

Hi crafty friends! Today I am sharing a card I made for Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 9 – Color Inspiration Board. It’s been a while so I’m excited to make something for these fun series of challenges. Everytime I feel a creative slump, I would work on a challenge to get the creative juices flowing again. And it’s also fun to see what others do to get some inspiration for your own creations!

Here’s the color inspiration board for Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #9

The Process

I decided to use Lawn Fawn Happy Trails stamp set for this card. I stamped everything on Bristol Smooth card stock because I had some out. I used Memento Tuxedo black ink since it’s Copic-friendly and I knew I will be coloring with Copic Markers. After coloring, I fussy cut all the pieces with my scissors.

I used my Cuttlebug to die cut a large 4 inch circle. I cut another 4 inch circle then used Lawn Fawn’s grass die to cut a line of grass. For the grass piece, I blended Distress Ink in Mowed Lawn. For the larger circle, I blended Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers for a teal blue sky. I then splashed on water and ink over it to get some texture for my background.

After the background dried, I adhere the grass to the sky with some strong adhesive tape to a piece of patterned paper I cut down to 4 1/8 x 4 1/8. I arranged my trees and adhered them with a tape runner as well. I then mounted the car and trailer on foam tape, and adhered them to the card. I decided to stamp the sentiment onto a Lawn Fawn Bannertastic banner I stamped first just to give it a little more structure. I also adhered the sentiment banner with foam tape for dimension. I finished the card by adhering the entire thing on a 4.25 x 4/25 inch card base. You can see a little of the white sticking out and I really like that look.

I think I overdid the orange but I didn’t plan on using the pattern paper until the end. I receive it with a Lawn Fawn order so I decided to use it last minute. Also the pinks I chose weren’t pink enough. Overall, I’m happy with the card and it was a lot of fun to make!

Thank you for stopping by!

Smile for Bear Hugs!

By on July 19, 2017

Today I am sharing a card featuring Pretty Pink Posh Bear Hugs stamp set and Smile Shaker die from the Pretty Pink Posh July Release. That's right. I'm still making stuff from this amazing release!

Even though I'm using the Smile Shaker die, I am not making a shaker card today so please 'bear' with me. (See what I did there? Hahaha)

I started my card by making a top folding A2 card out of Bristol Smooth paper. Lately this seems to be my go-to paper since I'm obsessed with ink blending. I am starting to feel pretty limited by Distress Inks when it comes to colors so if anybody has any suggestions on inks that blend well so I can add more color to my creations please leave me a comment! Anyways, back to the project at hand. I blended Distress Ink in Scattered Straw from the bottom and faded out to white. I then added some paint splatters by mixing my Distress Ink with little water and flicking it on with a paint brush. I'm still working on this technique, friends. There's always more paint on the hand that flicks the paint than the actual paper! I'm sure with practice it will start to feel more natural. I don't know how to explain it but my paint flicking is pretty awkward. Haha.

While the background dries, I stamped my bears and honey on Bristol Smooth with Memento Tuxedo Black. I saw some girls on YouTube doing this and wanted to see if the Copics will blend better on Bristol Smooth that the usual 110 lb. card stock I've been using. I don't know if I was suppose to wait for it to dry, but the Copics smeared the Memento while I was coloring. I was able to save it but this wasn't ideal and I don't know if I would try it again. I decided it that the card was looking 'bare' (love the puns), so I decided to color some small bees from the Bee Friends stamp set. Bees and honey goes together, right?!

I took some glittery card stock I got from my birthday that I haven't used yet and die cut the Smile Shaker die with my Cuttlebug. (Here's a tip: this die is so detailed and delicate, I always get better results with a shim under one of my plates.) I love how it came out! So glittery and beautiful!

Card assembly time! I glued the Smile Shaker piece directly onto the card base with Ranger Multi Media Matte. I love that this dries matte! It helps out with thin die cuts like this since when glues oozes out a little bit, it dries completely matte and you won't see the residue. Pro results without pro techniques! I then mounted all the bears and bees with foam tape. I put a honey jar and the honey stick around the bears just to ground them a little bit and decided to add the "You're Awesome" sentiment from Bear Hugs by embossing it in white onto black cardstock and mounting it on foam tape as well.

I love how this came out and I hope you did too. Thanks for stopping by!

Trifold Card featuring MFT BB Magic Dragons

By on July 18, 2017

One of my crafty friend and I decided to do a personal challenge just to keep the creative juices flowing. We’ve been so inspired by the many trifold cards recently made by some super fabulous designers so we decided to try one ourselves.

I started with a piece of 12 x 9 Bristol smooth paper because I knew I will be inking up a colorful background. I decided to ink it up before I folded it. I used Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio, and Dried Marigold for a soft sunset sky.

I took the other 4 inches I cut off from the same Bristol Smooth paper and used my Lawn Fawn stitched cloud border die and cut some clouds for the bottom of my card. The die isn’t long enough, so I had to line it up at the last cut to have one big piece of cloud. I lightly blended Distress Ink in Spun Sugar at the bottom of the cloud piece.

Now it’s time to fold! From the shorter end of the paper I cut it down to 5 inches. I scored the long end (12 inches) and 4 and 8 inches to create a 4 x 5 card when it’s folded. I did the same score lines and folds for the cloud. I then adhered the cloud piece to the card base. I know some people would adhere then score/fold but I wanted to do it separately just to have a little more control in how clean the creases and folds turn out. (As a side note, I also inked up the background before folding because I knew I wanted a very soft colored background, so I didn’t want color pooling in the creases if I was to fold before inking.”)

I stamped out all the images except the sentiments from My Favorite Things BB Magic Dragons stamp set (how cute are these dragons!) and stamped them onto cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored everything with Copic markers and since budget did not permit for coordinating dies, I fussy cut everything by hand.

Now the fun part. I adhered by images with a tape runner. I couldn’t use foam tape this time since this was a trifold card and I had images in the inside, I wanted to make sure it folded as flat as possible.

I stamped the two sentiments with Versamark ink and dusted it with white embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool.

This is where I usually go crazy with sequins. But because I really wanted to keep the card flat, I decided a good compromise would be the star confettis. I got the bit of shine and it kept the card relatively flat. Plus the stars went well with the soft sky theme I was aiming for.

I hope you like the card and thank you for stopping by!

Pretty Pink Posh Diamond Dies

By on July 14, 2017

Hi friends! I’m so happy everybody liked my card for yesterday’s blog hop post!

Today’s card has a lot of oldies but goodies! What I’m featuring is the new Stitched Diamond dies that I used to make the kite for my shaker card! I used the two smaller dies together to cut out a diamond frame for my shaker. I blended Distress Ink in Twisted Citron to make a background for the shaker and filled it with PPP Peridot Mist, Sparkling Clear sequins and Star Confetti and the shaker element is done.

I then used Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick and Dried Marigold for the background. I also blended a smaller piece of Bristol Smooth paper with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and die cut out a border using PPP Stitched Borders 2 Dies to created a piece to ground my critters. I stamped the Pretty Pink
Posh Woodland Critters with Versamark Black Onyx then watercolored them with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush.
Now the fun part – time to assemble the card! I started off by stamping the “Sending happy thoughts your way” sentiment from the Pretty Pink Posh Thoughtful Greetings stamp set with versamark ink then heat embossing it with white embossing powder. I mounted the border piece on the bottom with foam tape. I then arranged my critters on the bottom with more foam tape. I adhered the diamond shaker in the top right corner. To make it look like a kite, I used a piece of green baker’s twine and glued it to the back of my shaker as well as behind the bear’s hand to look like he’s holding it! How cute is that? I then finished the card with a few Sparking Clear sequins and mounted the panel to a top folding A2 card base! Voila!

Pretty Pink Posh Sea Friends Card

This release is SO good, guys! It was hard to not make a ton of things with it because you simply can. I decided to share a shaker card I made with the Pretty Pink Posh Sea Friends stamp set because I truly love me some sea critters!

The Madness…I mean, Process

To make this card, I stamped out everything and colored them with Copic markers. I created the background by blending Distress Ink in Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers to look like the ocean.  I added some drops of water and waited until lifting it up with a paper towel to create “bubbles” in the background. I then die cut a frame using  the biggest die from Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Frames Dies. I filled my shaker with Pretty Pink Posh Mermaid Sequin Mix which is also new with the July release! This mix is the prettiest mix of greens, aqua and blues…it truly reminds me of a mermaid’s tale. I also adhere some of the sequins and the clear droplets (there are some included in the mermaid sequin mix, guys!) to the background just so when the card is standing up , it didn’t look too plain.)

I adhered the colored images inside the shaker except my two favorites, the whale and the dolphin that I saved for later. I heat embossed the “hi” sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh Everyday Greeting Stamp Set in white. After I put the shaker together, I adhere the dolphin and whale on the outside of the card and it is finished!

I hope you liked the card! Don’t forget to leave a comment to get a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!

Pretty Pink Posh July Release: Summer Friends, Smile Shaker & Sunny Days Sequin Mix

By on July 10, 2017

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a card I made for Pretty Pink Posh’s July Release. I can’t get enough of these summer friends! The little girl in the unicorn floaty is my favorite!

I stamped the two little girl, little boy and beach ball from Pretty Pink Posh’s Summer Friends Stamp Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored everything with Copic markers.

I cut the smile die in white cardstock. This die is very delicate but it cuts well. (Don’t forget to save the dot for the ‘i’!)

I used yellow polka dot cardstock and cut it to 4×5.25 (slightly smaller than an A2 card). I cut a circle where the smile frame will go with a circle die that is around the same size.

I used the same circle die and cut it out on white cards as a front base for the shaker. I also cut out the same size white Bristol Smooth card stock for the back which I inked up with Distress Ink tumbled glass for a background behind the Smile did. Now that I got all the piece done, I assembled the shaker and filled it with Sunny Days sequin mix.

I adheres the stamped images to the front of the card and we are finished!

Thank you for stopping by! Happy crafting!
