Card #1: St. Patrick’s Day Card
Okay, let’s get started! For my first card, I mixed new and old products together to create a fun scene. I started by inking up the background with Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean (around the edges for depth) for a blue sky then splashed with water to lift up some of that ink for interest. While that dries, I moved on to color my little friends from the Best of Luck stamp set. I stamped everything with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. I didn’t have the dies for this one, so I fussy cut all my images however there are coordinating dies for those who do not enjoy fussy cutting as much as I do.
After I finished coloring and cutting, I moved onto die cut a few pieces to finish off my scene. I used the straight piece from the Scallop Border dies on green card stock to get a piece of grass. While my die cutting machine was still out, I also cut a picket fence using the Picket Fence die in white card stock.
Now we are ready to assemble the scene. At this point, I would make sure that the inked up background is completely dry so you don’t get embossing powder stuck on everything. My background was dry, so I inked up the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I then adhered the picket fence and the rainbow to my background piece. I popped up the green grass on foam tape then tucked my colored shamrocks in behind the grass. I then adhered the little leprechaun and the pot of gold to my grass. At this point, I felt it looked empty and needed something else. So I decided to go jewel-crazy. I used the beautiful new jewels from Pretty Pink Posh in Shamrock and Sea Glass to match the grass and sky. Photos do not do the “wow factor” of these jewels any justice! And that’s it! I’m finish with my whimsical St. Patrick’s Day card.
Card #2 – Easter/Spring Card
Speaking of Pretty Pink Posh’s new jewels, I created this second card all around the jewels. I knew I wanted to use them in a shaker and had this crazy idea to use the new decorative egg dies to do this. I wanted each stripe to be a different color and I am so happy with the results! There’s almost no stamping besides the sentiment on this card and no coloring at all.
I started by die cutting one of the decorative eggs onto white cardstock. I then cut out the Decorative Tag 1 die on pattern paper to back the egg and give it a little more weight on the card. I wanted to inlay the egg into the tag, so I cut the egg out of the decorative tag piece I just cut.
I then inlayed that piece into another piece of white card stock. I trimmed off the edges with the Scallop Border Die to add more. of a spring feel to my card.
Now I started to build the shaker. I cut a small piece of acetate and adhered it to the back of the egg, I then used foam tape to build the channels between the different color jewels. I used Kristina Werner’s method were I removed the liner on the foam tape so I can easy mold the tape around the curves of the egg. I then filled each of the spaces with a different color jewel: spring green, pink blush, sea glass, buttercream, and pansy purple. (Yes, I did line up every jewel to face the right direction. Yes, it’s crazy. Yes, it was worth it!) After I finished the shaker element, I mounted the panel with foam tape onto a A2 card base backed with the same pattern paper I used for the decorative tag 1 die to keep it cohesive. I then stamped the Happy Spring sentiment from the Bunny Friends stamp set and adhere 3 jewels to the front of the card.
These are my cards. I hope you like them and I hope you continue to hop along with us! Don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!
