Hello, crafty friends! I made a fun birthday card today highlighting Boba Tea from Mama Elephant’s April release.
If you don’t know what boba is, it’s a tapioca starchy dessert that you can suck up a wide, smoothie straw when you drink your milk tea (which is like a tea latte). It is all the rage in Asia and we have a ton of boba places in Southern California as well. I’ve been indulging in this treat for many years now and it’s definitely worth a try if you have never had it!
Anyways, inspired by my son who made me a card using this set, I decided to make a food fight scene with the little critters throwing boba at each other while the monkey holds on to the boba cup for dear life!
I started by coloring my images with Copic markers and die cutting with their coordinating dies.
Next, I ink blended a background with Distress Oxides in Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass. I splattered some Tumbled Glass ink onto the background for additional interest.
Then I framed the scene with pattern paper and scallop edges I made with Mama Elephant Borderlines Trio – Creative Cuts.
I popped up the border and images with foam tape to create depth to the scene by having the illusion that the background is truly in the back. (Hopefully that makes sense.)
I stamped a birthday sentiment from Boba Tea and my card is done!
Thank you for stopping by and hopefully I have inspired you to make a fun birthday card today as well! Ciao!
