MAMA ELEPHANT Stampede | October Release

By on October 15, 2018

Welcome to the Mama Elephant Design Team blog hop! Today I’m sharing two cards I made with the new Mama Elephant Bright Lights stamp set.

For my first card, I heat embossed the string lights with white embossing powder then ink blended a soft, light blue background. I then stamped the light bulbs with red dye ink and fussy cut them so I can pop them up for dimension.

Next, I die cut some Bristol paper with Cloud Nine Creative Cuts and Framed Tags – Union Square Creative Cuts to create an interesting frame. I ink blended with Distress Ink in Candy Apple and Spun Sugar. Then, I splatter paint onto it for even more interest. I finished the cover by heat embossing the sentiment after the panel was completely dry.

I adhere the entire think on with foam tape and this card is finished!

For my next card, I heat embossed the string lights in silver and then the oblong bulbs in gold. I had that Christmas song, “Silver and Gold” stuck in my head and decided I wanted to make an non-traditional Christmas card. After I finished embossing, I ink blended in purples and pinks to get a elegant background.

For my sentiment, I die cut Oh Joy Halo Script from last month’s release in glitter paper and the halo in vellum. Next, I took a sentiment from Bright Lights and heat embossed in silver onto black paper. If I was to do this again, I would use a dark purple…but I didn’t have any, so black it is!

I adhered that onto my card and it’s complete!

So there you have it. Two relatively easy Christmas cards – two completely different looks and both equally fun and adorable!

Don’t forget to leave a message for a chance to win some amazing prizes! Keep hopping along with our amazing designers. You will find the list at the end of this post.

Pretty Pink Posh | Halloween Theme Week

By on October 4, 2018

Hello crafty friends! Today’s card I made using a bunch of fun Halloween goodies from Pretty Pink Posh for our Halloween Theme Week! I just love these sweet images and the colors are very different from my usual soft colors and pastels – but I just LOVE this card. Maybe because it’s unique to my usual…or maybe because I love Halloween. Either case, if you like it as much as I do, I will show you how I made it!

First, I stamped all the images I decided to use with Copic-Friendly Memento Tuxedo Black onto white card stock. I colored everything with Copic markers. After I finished coloring, I die cut the images with coordinating dies and set aside to word on my background.

I love to ink blend so I knew I was going to make an ink blended background. I was going to do my usual and just have orange fade into white. But I don’t know. Today I was inspired to step outside of my comfort and just play with colors. I was so glad I did! I blended Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Candied Apple,  Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire for my background. I love that the dried marigold was dramatically lighter than the rest of the colors making it look like it’s glowing. I splattered water then splattered paint and set this aside to dry.

While my background was drying, I die cut the smaller of the two Window Frames dies out of vellum paper to make a translucent moon for my background. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

Now it was time to assemble my card! I adhered the vellum “moon” on first with strong tape at the bottom of the moon since I knew my critters would cover this up. I also added a few dots of wet glue to the back of the sentiment to hide the adhesive. I then arranged the critters from Halloween Pals on with foam tape. I used glue dots for Halloween Friends’ bats and spider straight on the card. I added a few gold jewels and my card is finished!

MAMA ELEPHANT Joy Ornaments | Stamp Highlights

By on September 26, 2018

Welcome back for another Mama Elephant stamp highlight – today’s card features Joy Ornaments from the September 2018 Anniversary release! This stamp set has beautiful, fun and large ornament images that you can play around with. For today’s card. I paired it with a few little friends from Little Elf Agenda to add a whimsical feel to my card.

I started by stamping out J-O-Y from the Joy Ornaments stamp set and a few elves from Little Elf Agenda. I whipped out the Copics again for this card. It’s been a while and I wanted to get a good blend to make the letters and ornament look 3D and I feel it’s easier for me to do this with Copics. I stamped all my images onto Neenah white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. After I finished coloring, I used coordinating dies to cut them out.

I then cut down a piece of Bristol smooth card stock to A2 size to ink blend a background. I used Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch from the outside blending towards the middle to keep a highlighted area since I will be adhering all my images in the middle. This create a spotlight affect for those images. I splashed on some water and lifted it up for a fun and dreamy look.

After my background was dry, I stamped the ornament string and the “to you and me” sentiment” onto it with Versamark. I heat embossed everything with silver embossing powder.

To assembly my card, I lined up all the images and popped them up with foam tape for dimension. I love this sweet and simple card that has such an impact with the bold red ornaments!

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed reading about today’s card.

MAMA ELEPHANT Little Snowman Agenda | Stamp Highlights

By on September 24, 2018

Hello friends! I am sharing a card today that I made using the new Little Snowman Agenda stamps from Mama Elephant. My favorite thing to do whenever Mama Elephant releases a little agenda set is to look at each individual image to see what they’re up to. It always brings a smile to my face! This set was no exception. So cute and who doesn’t love a bunch of little snowman.

I decided to pair them with the Grid Window Creative Cuts in my card today. At first, I felt like I’ve done this too much but when things work, they just do. I decided not to fight it and paired them together and I am so happy I did!

I went for a little bit of an unconventional look by using a sea foam green and pale pink as my “Christmas colors”. What I got at the end was a soft, different Christmas card that I absolutely love.

All my images are colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers in green shadow, tea rose, brick beige, flesh color and gray tint for the shading of the snowmen. I die cut them all with coordinating dies then set them aside to work on the Grid Window background.

I found some coordinating colored card stock and cut the grid window from it. I also cut another grid window out of fun foam to add to the back for dimension. For the background, I lined up a piece of Bristol smooth card stock and used a pencil to mark the top and bottoms of the little windows. I blended Distress Ink Sugar sugar to have way down each window into white.

To finish the card, I popped up each snowman in a window with foam tape and my card in finished. Because I did not have room for a sentiment in the front, I added “May all your Christmases be white” from the Merry Greetings stamp set. I found this to match perfectly with all the little snowmen.

That’s it from me. Thank you for stopping by!

MAMA ELEPHANT Cool Penguins | Stamp Highlights

By on September 21, 2018

Hi again! Today I am sharing a card that highlights Mama Elephant Cool Penguins stamps set. These are the cutest images by the fabulous Aida Zamora. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with these when I saw them!

I started by coloring my images very soft colors. I was inspired by Aida’s original works since she always does a very soft watercoloring that is perfect for nurseries. After I finished coloring, I die cut everything out with coordinating dies.

For my background, I kept it simple since I used so many colors for my background. I used some pattern paper and cut it down to A2 size. I arranged my images on top of the background temporarily and stamped the funny sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed in silver embossing powder until smooth and melted.

I used Madison Avenue Creative Cut to cut out a glittery border for my scene out. I try to add a little shine whenever I can! I wasn’t able to photograph it but that frame is amazingly sparkly.

After arranging my scene, I felt the top was a little bit bare. I decided to add the party banners from Swinging Borders and colored it to match to the top of the card. This was exactly the touch I was looking for.

To finish my card, I added a few images straight onto the background with some glue and popped some of the images in front onto foam tape for dimension. Lastly, I put the frame on with some foam tape and my card is complete – a penguin gift wrapping party!

I hope you enjoyed my card and thank you for stopping by!

MAMA ELEPHANT Oh Kitty Tree | Stamp Highlights

By on September 19, 2018

Hello! Today’s Mama Elephant stamp highlights featured the amazing Oh Kitty Tree! I will admit that I am a dog person but this large tree of cats has my heart. I can’t even pick my favorite kitty from the lot!

Because it’s a large image, there is a lot to color. For those of you who love to color, this is the stamp set for you. I had a lot of fun getting creative with coloring different kinds of cats. I recommend going on google and looking up “cat colors” for some inspiration. There’s actually quite a bit of variation in their coloring so it was a ton of fun to be creative.

I usually start my cards by coloring images, but for this particular card, I made the background first. I have been making a lot of blue cards lately and I already had it in my head that this would be a warm tone card. I don’t know if it’s all that “Christmas-y” but I went with Distress Inks in Candy Apple, Worn Lipstick and Dried Marigold for my background and I love it! I then used the new Galactic Cover Creative Cuts to create a quick, fun and finished background. I adhered my background to a top folding A2 card base and moved on to color a ton of cats!

Now that my background is completed, I’m ready for a coloring marathon! I pulled up images of cats on Google and picked out warm browns and grays and colored away. I love how this turned out. I had a little space, so I decided to pull a few birds from Trim the Tree and having them decorating the tree with additional ornaments. I even threw in a little Easter egg in my card to celebrate Mama Elephant’s 6 years anniversary. Do you see it?

I used the coordinate die to cut out fun foam to mount my tree and give it nice even dimension. I used some strong liquid glue on the smaller images and mounted them on to my card as well.

For the sentiment, I used the Oh Joy Halo Script Creative Cuts and die cut it onto gold glitter paper and fun foam. I adhered this onto the card with some strong glue and my card is complete!

I hope you love this card as much as I do. Thank you for stopping by!

PRETTY PINK POSH Cuddly Cats Shaker Card

By on September 18, 2018

Hello crafty friends! Today I have a fun shaker card for you highlighting Cuddly Cats from the Pretty Pink Posh September release. These are some sweet images for those cat lovers out there! I thought it was only fair to feature some cats since my last card/post was all about the pups!

Let’s get started. I stamped out these sweet images onto Bristol smooth card stock and stamped them with Versafine in Vintage Sepia. I have just really been feeling the soft results using this ink instead of a black. I also been in love with my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers because of how easily and quickly they blend. (Full disclosure: I work full time and craft at night and the Zigs have been helping me adjust to my new DT schedule working for two brands.) After I finished coloring, I die cut out the images with their coordinating dies.

I cut a piece of plaid paper into A2 size (4.25 x 5.5) and covered up an A2 card base with it. I then die cut Stitched Pieces die onto white cardstock. I aligned it pretty close to the top to leave room for a sentiment at the bottom. I also die cut the two sides with the Scallop Borders die to give it a finished look. At this point, you want to stamp the sentiment on when it’s nice and flat. I made this mistake too many times and it won’t be my last. 🙂

Now it’s time to build a shaker. I put some acetate on the back of the white Stitched Pieces I just die cut. I then built up two layers of foam tape around each window and the frame. I then filled the windows with the 3m sparkling clear sequins and mini iridescent stars. I then flipped my card base and adhered it on top of the white piece very slowly and carefully to ensure everything is aligned.

Now that the stressful part is completed, I popped my colored images on with foam tape for extra dimension and my card is complete!

Thank you for stopping by!

Pretty Pink Posh September Release

Pretty Pink Posh September 2018 Blog Hop

Pretty Pink Posh September 2018 Release

Hello, crafty friends! Thank you for hopping along with us! Are you enjoying what you’re seeing?! I’m certainly am! This fall release from Pretty Pink Posh is amazing! I really couldn’t pick a favorite from the lot, but I decided to start with the sweet images from Pumpkin Patch Critter Friends because I’m just a critters girl. I love me some adorable critters and these are  perfect for the upcoming fall.

I started my card by stamping out the images I wanted to use with Versamark Vintage Sepia ink onto Bristol smooth cardstock. I knew I was going to color with Zigs today. Lately, I’ve been really feeling my Zigs. I just love the way it blends on Bristol paper but it’s also very quick to blend. Real life has been very busy with the new school year, so I love how fast I can color with Zigs.

Any who, I then die cut everything with their coordinating dies and set them aside for later.

I cut an A2 size background also out of Bristol smooth paper and ink blended from the bottom up with Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers. I added more pressure in the bottom and faded up to white. I then flicked on some Peacock Feathers splatters onto of my blending and my background is done.

After the background was completely dry, I used Versamark ink and heat emboss the sentiment that comes with this stamp set in gold embossing powder.

I adhered all my critters onto the card with foam tape and finished with some beautiful gold jewels and my card is finished.

Again, this card is relatively simple but really packs a punch w/ the beautiful images and jewels!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope I inspired you to make some fun fall cards soon!

Fly Away Friends Stamp Set | Pretty Pink Posh Sale

By on June 21, 2018

Pretty Pink Posh Fly Away FriendsHello, crafty friends! Today’s project features the Pretty Pink Posh Fly Away Friends stamp set. I love hot air balloon images! I can still feel the excitement I had when this stamp set was released last year. I decided to make a fun shaker card today, so let’s begin!

First, I stamped the largest balloon and the two critters from the stamp set. These are the only images I used because I wanted the shaker elements to stand out and since my shaker today will be two white clouds, I had to keep it pretty simple not to overshadow this feature. I colored everything with Copic markers and fussy cut them (coordinating dies are available if you would rather not fussy cut, but I actually find it therapeutic). I set this aside to work on my background and shaker.

For the background, I used the Stitched Notes Dies to create the stitched rectangle. I used the Rainy Days coordinating dies for the clouds that will be my shaker windows. I position and die cut the clouds before I started ink blending Distress Inks in Milled Lavender, Shaded Lilac, Seedless Preserved and Dusty Concord. I couldn’t decide on my purples. Haha. I started with the dark colors, then lights and faded into white on top. Once this was completely dry, I stamped the sentiments in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I assembled my shaker with doubled up foam tape and filled the clouds with Pretty Pink Posh sequins: Iridescent Mini Star Confetti¼” Iridescent Star ConfettiSparkling Clear Confetti Mix and 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins. I chose to fill them with a lot of fun clear and iridescent confetti and sequins to give the clouds shine!

I adhered the shaker onto a A2 top folding card base then adhered my stamped images. I finished with a few sequins that I used in the shaker and the card is done!

If you like the card I made today, Pretty Pink Posh is having a sale on this stamp set and it’s coordinating dies today!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope I inspired you to make something today!

Pretty Pink Posh June Release Blog Hop

By on June 14, 2018

Hi crafty friends! I hope you’re enjoying the blog hop so far. This release has the cutest products and the inspiration is always amazing!

Today I made a card featuring Pretty Pink Posh School Friends. It’s kind of funny to be making this card on my kids’ last week of school but I couldn’t resist these sweet images.

The Process

First, I colored all the images with Copic markers. I then die cut out the images with their coordinating dies.

Then, I die cut the Scalloped Frames dies onto Bristol smooth card stock paper to make a chalkboard out if it. I decided to go with a vintage green to give it a softer look. I used Distress Inks for the chalk board and the frame. The chalk board is Distress Ink in Twisted Citron and the edges are Mowed Lawn to give it a little dimension with a slight gradient. The board is Distress Ink Gathered Twigs. I kept it darker around the outside and lighter inside for the same gradient look.

I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder to look like it was written in chalk. I finished the card by popping all the images with foam tape to add a little interest to a relatively simple card.

And that’s my finish card. I hope you like it!
