Hi friends. Today I needed a quick card to send somebody and since we can’t really easily go out and buy one, I decided to take out a beautiful stamp and do some messy watercoloring. I feel like messy watercoloring was a technique that was made for me – fast, it’s beautiful, and it’s effective. So for whoever came up with it, thank you, thank you, thank you.
To start, I stamped the large frame from Garden Frame onto hot press watercolor paper with waterproof brown ink. I have seen others say that this paper is smoother than cold press so I wanted to give it a try. I actually really like the texture of cold press watercolor paper however I don’t like using a stamp positioned. I don’t know why. I just am comfortable with the trusty old stamp block. So I stamped it once with a stamp block on cold press watercolor paper and it came out perfectly.
Next, I got out my favorite colors and just painted starting with a light wash of color and deepening each image to define it as I go. I splattered some of the blue paint onto the card for interest and slapped the piece on to an A2 card base and my card is finished!
