Hello, crafty friends. 2020 is the Year of the Mouse on the Chinese Zodiac. I love how every year Starbucks makes a gift card with a zodiac design. Last year I created a cute card for the year of the pig so I thought I would start my own little tradition of making a CNY card with a Starbucks gift card inside. The design this year is really beautiful and I am so excited to give this to the recipient!

To start, I colored and die cut Zodiac Mouse images. Next, I die cut colored card stock and some Bristol paper with Framed Tags – Waverly – Creative Cuts. (This is quite possibly my favorite Framed Tags die set from Mama Elephant.) I ink blended the flap piece with Distress Oxides in Candied Apple and Dried Marigold. Once the ink dried, I heat embossed sentiments from Lunar Sayings onto the ink blended piece with gold embossing powder.

Now all that is left is assembly. I glued my ink blended piece on top of the red piece and then glued my mice on top of that. (A trick I use is I would leave something heavy on top of my card for a day to get the flap to flatten down again after I lifted it to insert the gift card.) I adhered everything onto an A2 Kraft card base and my card is almost finished. I decided to stamp one more sentiment inside my card and now we can call it done!

Happy New Year, my friends. I wish you a year filled with laughter, happiness and abundant inspiration!
