Hey there! Today I made a fun card highlighting Zodiac Mouse from Mama Elephant’s November release. These mice were intended for 2020 Year of the Mouse but when I saw them, I just thought of cheese, haha. So I was super inspired to make a large cheese card with them mice sticking out of the Swiss holes!
I started as I always do by stamping and coloring my images. Since these mice are pretty large, I colored with Zig markers then die cut with their coordinating dies.
For the cheesy part – I cut out two A2 size (4.25 x 5.5) pieces of Bristol smooth card stock. For the top piece, I used a circle die from Sew Fancy – Creative Cuts to create the Swiss cheese holes for my mice to peek out of. I ink blended with Distress Oxide in Fossilized Ambered and Mustard Seed. I then splashed some water and lifted the ink for texture. On the second piece, I lightly added a glow of color around each Swiss hole for the mouse (but after I put it together, the mice were so big you barely can see the contrast. Lol.) At this point, I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set directly onto my cheese piece with brown ink.
Next, I popped up the holey piece onto the background piece with foam tape so it looked like dimensional cheese. Then I tucked my images into each whole, also with foam tape and my card is finished!
Thank you for stopping by and I hope I inspired you to make something today! Ciao!
