MAMA ELEPHANT Oh Puppy Tree | Stamp Highlight

September 24, 2019

Today I am sharing another card I made with yet another adorable stamp set from Mama Elephant! Last year they brought you Oh Kitty Tree…and although I found it to be stinkin’ cute as can be, I’m more a dog person. Well, I heard the dog people asked and Mama Elephant delivered! This puppy tree is so cute, I can’t stand it!

So, as you all can see, there is a lot of coloring involved here. If you saw us on the Mama Elephant Instagram Live party, you will know that I don’t like to take too much time to finish a card. I want to be as practically as any handmade project can be. Practically for me is to keep it under 2 hours – start to finish. So with all this coloring, I like to pair it with some die cutting to add impact and depth – versus my usual ink blended background. I love ink blended backgrounds, but they do take a lot of time to make, dry and set. So this is a tip from me – you know all those cover dies that seem expensive? They are worth it because they cut your time and add so much impact!

Moving on! First I colored (and colored) my puppy tree with Arteza markers. (Another tip here – watercolor markers like Arteza and Zigs are faster for me. I can use one color and a water brush to get the gradients and shadows. Blending is quick too. Copics and alcohol marker blending, though beautiful, takes longer!) I die cut the entire thing and set it aside to work on my quick background.

For the background, I took out the Galactic Cover – CC from last year’s September release and die cut it out of a baby blue colored card stock. When I glued this onto my card base, the white from my card base makes it look like snow fall!

Lastly, I heat emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder onto a piece of lime green card stock. I adhered the sentiment strip and the Oh Puppy Tree image onto my card with foam tape and my card is finish! Look how cute and oh so easy!

Thank you for stopping by!
