Hello beautiful friends! Hope everybody is having an amazing Friday!
Today’s card features the adorable Reindeer Friends from Pretty Pink Posh. Plus – it’s my first time masking this much. I had a vision in my head when I designed this card and execution was a lot more difficult than I thought! But! The good news is, I learned a lot and the next time I do this kind of masking, I think I will have a better handle on it.
I first stamped the presents using Versafine Vintage Sepia ink onto watercolor paper since I will be using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for coloring. I then cut out 2 masks on Post-it paper (that eventually turned into 5) to stamp the fun mountain of presents! I then stamped the little reindeer that is holding a present on top. The sentiment was also stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia and I was done with my stamping and ready to color.
I kept coloring very simple by alternating a few colors:
- Reindeer – oatmeal, dark oatmeal and pale rose for the cheeks
- Presents – pale rose, turquoise green, mid green, mustard
I trimmed down the watercolored piece and mounted it on glittery gold cardstock. I then foam-mounted the entire thing onto an aqua cardstock (in retrospect, I would trim down the watercolor piece more so more of the background color is showing – but after coloring so much, I didn’t have the heart to do it! But I think it would look a lot more balanced if I did.) then mounted the the entire thing on a top folding A2 base. I decided my masking wasn’t great and there were too many holes. Originally, I wanted this to be a one layer card but it didn’t happen because I was so unhappy w/ the “holes”. I stamped additional presents and colored them and mounted them on top of the holes where I didn’t have any presents. I finished the card with some Mermaid Mix sequins because I wanted those blues and gold sequins on the card. The smaller droplets are from the Mermaid mix but I also added the one 6mm Droplet for some added dimension and interest.
I hope you enjoying this little tutorial and my card. Thanks for stopping by!
